We are launching a stunning new series of Romantic Fantasy Short Stories in April 2026 (read about them here!). Following on from our previous Art Submissions Call, we are now inviting illustrators to submit line drawings to feature within the pages of the third pair of anthologies in this series, 'The Tarot of Love' and 'Of Blood & Petals'.
What you need to know
Design a line drawing inspired by one of the two anthology themes:
The Tarot of Love: The Lovers Tarot card can signify attraction, love, and commitment, but reversed, it may represent failure and foolishness. Which fate will it be? Since ancient times, divination has been a tool for seeking answers through mediums such as readings, tangible objects, or tapping into other realms and spirit worlds to gain guidance. We are looking for line drawings which represent seers, soothsayers, and diviners...
Of Blood & Petals: Where passion blooms, so too can peril... We're seeking line drawings which represent forbidden love, of hearts pricked by the thorns of sacrifice, of beauty veiled by darkness, and a love that demands it all. Will a rose be a gesture of forever? Or will its petals drip in crimson and longing? The setting could be an enchanted garden or a fantastical castle; perhaps you'll be inspired to explore a kingdom ruled by roses and ruin. We want tales where love and loss are inseparable, where petals fall like vows, fragile, fleeting, unforgettable.
This submission call is open to artists worldwide. You do not have to be a professional or experienced artist to submit your work.
Four illustrations will be selected to feature throughout the pages of both globally distributed, foiled & hardback anthologies.
This is a professional, paid opportunity, with full credit and contributor copies provided to the artists whose work is selected.
Submission guidelines:
- Submit your artwork to: FanArt@flametreepublishing.com
- Multiple submissions are fine but must be in separate emails.
- The file with the artwork must be attached to the email (PDF of JPEG)
- Artwork must have maximum dimensions of 5,000 x 5,000 px & minimum 3,500 px x 3,500 px
- Clearly state the chosen theme/anthology in the body of your email.
- Include a short biography - no longer than 60 words - and any social media handles in the body of your email.
- If you wish to withdraw your submission at any time, please do so before the deadline.
- Entries must consist solely of original, human-created artwork; pieces incorporating generative AI elements are not eligible. Please see our AI policy here.
