We’re very pleased to announce the list of authors in Moon Falling Short Stories! Publishing in October 2024, this latest anthology in our Gothic Fantasy series is a companion edition to Sun Rising Short Stories. The book features a foreword by astrophysicist Ben Moore, and presents a range of captivating tales from ancient sources to the modern day. Stories by modern authors sit alongside classic tales, folklore and myths exploring the significance, appeal and human connection to our fascinating moon. We’re delighted to present the authors selected for inclusion in Sun Rising Short Stories! Publishing in October 2024, this latest book in our Gothic Fantasy series features the usual mix of new and old: fresh stories by modern writers selected from submissions, alongside classic tales about the sun from storytelling traditions around the world. With a foreword by planetary scientist Ravit Helled, the book explores the enduring fascination with solar entities, including our own star, in life and fiction. Launching our series of Myths, Gods & Immortals along with Odin, Medusa explores this fascinating mythological figure and the various interpretations of her from ancient times to the present day. Selected from open submissions, 17 captivating tales by modern authors feature alongside a foreword by Miriam Robbins Dexter and an introductory essay by Liv Albert. We can’t wait for this one, publishing in September 2024, and available in North America from October! Flame Tree Fiction are excited to announce that after the success of previous years, we will be printing another A5 fiction newsletter with 10 science fiction flash fiction stories of 1,000 words as a special edition for WorldCon 2024, 8th-12th August in Glasgow, which will be alongside our usual monthly newsletter.

We have the new addition of a guest editor and beautiful cover art for this one-of-a-kind newsletter.

The programme will include the chosen stories and the author’s bio, where it is read by hundreds of writers in the UK Science Fiction Community. It’s a fantastic, paid opportunity for authors! Please note that the monthly newsletter will run as usual.

We’re very excited to reveal the list of stories in our new book Odin! One of the first two titles in our Myths, Gods and Immortals series, Odin includes a foreword by Carolyne Larrington, an introductory essay by Charlie Shotton exploring the cultural and mythological roots of Odin, and 17 fantastic tales by modern authors selected from open submissions. The book publishes in September 2024 and is available in North America from October 2024. African Ghost Short Stories is our latest anthology release! Packed with classic folktales as well as new stories by modern authors, it’s a treasure trove of African supernatural writing, with an introduction by Prof. Divine Che Neba, a foreword by Nuzo Onoh and editorial support from Chinelo Onwualu. In the first part of this Q&A, some of the book’s authors spoke about the inspiration behind their story. Now, they return with recommendations of other books, films, TV and short stories on the theme, as well as revealing the various writing methods they use for their own work…

Our latest release, African Ghost Short Stories, explores the deep-seated supernatural element in African storytelling, from ancient tales and folklore to the vibrancy of today’s African horror. The anthology includes a foreword by award-winning Nigerian-British writer Nuzo Onoh and an introduction by Prof. Divine Che Neba, and was created with invaluable editorial support from writer and editor Chinelo Onwualu. We also worked with the wonderful Conscious Dreams Publishing to help get the word out on submissions for this theme.
