To end the year on a high, we're delighted to present the list of authors set to feature in our upcoming short story collections: American Gothic, and Urban Crime. Following swiftly on the tail of Haunted House, and Cosy Crime, these latest books join our Gothic Fantasy series, and similarly combine classic tales with contemporary stories received by submission. Again, our call for submissions was met with an overwhelming response, so we're excited now to share this final selection! From Urban Crime's thrilling city dangers to the downright unsettling breed of horror running through American Gothic, this latest pair of anthologies promises a healthy dose of the fascinating and strange in 2019. In this week’s blog we are completing our look at The Trio of horror! After looking at vampires and Frankenstein and his monster we turn our attention to werewolves. With a global history spanning hundreds of years, werewolves have been terrifying people for millennia. In this blog we trace their history in folklore to modern horror fiction.

Rather like Dracula and vampires, Frankenstein’s Monster has become the name and face for a character type: the reanimated corpse. In this blog post we are looking at the conception and history of the character and the use of Frankenstein in horror fiction to learn a little more about one of horror's finest creations and the reach it has had. 

We're leaving our 2018 list behind us and looking toward the new year. We are very excited to bring you 24 brand new titles and another 12 that are brand new to Flame Tree Press. Continuing with our series of author Q&As, we turn to the writer of Kosmos, Adrian Laing. He talked to us about influences, writing practices and what’s in store for the readers of Kosmos!

This week marks the international release of The Sorrows by Jonathan Janz, Kosmos by Adrian Laing, Night Shift by Robin Triggs and Think Your Self Lucky by Ramsey Campbell. Of all the staples of horror fiction, vampires are certainly among the most iconic. With their sharp teeth and penchant for gothic castles, they make for perfect characters in both classic horror tales but also modern films. Defined by their feeding off of the blood or other creatures (generally humans) they are a classic villain in countless stories, but where does their history begin?

Before the month is out we will have two more Flame Tree Press titles launching!
