Our new anthology, Epic Fantasy Short Stories, is due out in this week! Paired with Detective Mysteries, the two collections gather together the work of modern authors with classic fiction from the genres. Epic Fantasy promises to be a bewitching mix of adventure, fearsome beasts, and enchantment, and you can read more about the featured tales in Part 1 of this Author Q&A. Now, the book's contemporary authors tell us a bit more about their favourite fantasy stories, as well as the different ways they bring their own stories to life:

We are now open for submissions for two exciting new anthologies: Detective Thrillers and A Dying Planet. Due to be published in early 2020, these add to our Gothic Fantasy series, which includes existing titles like Supernatural Horror, Robots & Artificial Intelligence, Dystopia Utopia, American Gothic and more. Again, we are looking for around twenty to thirty short stories by contemporary writers to complement a selection of classic tales in these anthologies. We are keen to encourage new writers, without prejudice to age, background or previous publication history. It’s the story that matters, and the quality of writing.

Our latest short story anthology, Urban Crime, packs shady characters with thrilling storytelling. Whether the setting is Paris, London, New York or San Francisco, cities around the globe provide the gritty backdrop to an underground world of dark intentions, in a collection that combines new and classic writers in the genre. Here to celebrate the book’s release, some of the authors tell us what inspired their featured tales:

Our American Gothic anthology harbours tales from the genre’s early roots to the modern day. Including contemporary work alongside much-loved classic authors such as Shirley Jackson, Nathaniel Hawthorne and Flannery O’Connor, the collection promises a feast of fascinating stories on the theme. Our new Cosy Crime Short Stories anthology is now available to buy from our website and includes work by both contemporary authors and classic authors from the genre, including G.K.
